Lost in cyberspace? Gains and losses of the Dutch cyber ambitions
On December 12, Clingendael Magazine the ‘Internationale Spectator’ together with SIB-Amsterdam, will organise a seminar focusing on the Dutch cyber ambitions. This seminar is a follow-up on a cyber-dossier that will be published on the website of the Internationale Spectator in the preceding week. Several speakers from the field will shed their light on the ‘gains and losses’ of the Dutch cyber ambitions, followed by a discussion with the audience. The Dutch aspirations to become the cyber ‘gateway’ of Europe poses challenges to national security and the judicial system.
Are we capable of dealing with the risks that stem from these cyber ambitions? And what is the role of the Dutch government, the private sector and NGO’s in reducing the risks and protecting national security?
These, and other, questions will be answered by Jochem de Groot, director Corporate Affairs at Microsoft Benelux; Paul Ducheine, general, and professor military law of cyber security and cyber operations at the UvA; and Ton Siedsma, researcher at Bits of Freedom.
Moderator is Bart Hogeveen, Training & Research Fellow at the Clingendael Institute.
The seminar will take place at CREA in Amsterdam, from 20.00 until 22.00 hrs.
Registration for this seminar is not necessary.
For students the entrance is free; non-students can buy a ticket at CREA, which costs €5.
More information can be found on the website of SIB-Amsterdam and on Facebook.
