Datum: 08-04-2015Roundtable: ‘Geopolitical boundaries of European Integration’
The European Foreign Policy Scorecard
Which member of the European Union is a leader or a slacker in foreign policy?
More than ever, the European Union is surrounded by crises. The current crises in Ukraine and the MENA-region are challenging and require EU-member states to come with new solutions and foreign policy instruments. But what do these measures entail? Which member of the European Union is a leader or a slacker in foreign policy?
On April 8, Utrecht Centre for International Studies and the Institutions Programme of Utrecht University will gather foreign policy experts to exchange their views on the current challenges with Europe’s foreign policy. Jaap de Hoop Scheffer (former SG NATO), Beatrice de Graaf (Professor International Relations and Global Governance) Petra Stienen (Middle East expert and former diplomat), Han ten Broeke (Member of Parliament) and Tony Agotha (to be confirmed, Head of EU Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) will share their vision in an expert panel. And the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) will present the outcomes of their European Foreign Policy Scorecard 2015. The European Foreign Policy Scorecard provides a systematic assessment of Europe’s foreign policy performance, analysing the performance of the 28 member states and the EU institutions on 65 policy areas arranged around six key issue areas: Russia; United States; Wider Europe; Middle East and North Africa; Asia and China; Multilateral issues.

The programme seamlessly connects to the grand societal challenges identified in Horizon2020. For more information of Institutions, visit our website: http://www.uu.nl/en/research/institutions
European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) is an award-winning international think tank that aims to conduct cutting-edge independent research; provide a safe meeting space for policy-makers, activists and intellectuals to share ideas and offer a media platform to get Europeans talking about their role in the world.
